October 27, 2013 by Kristyn Dunnion The 2013 CZP/RANNU Fund Writing Award selections have been announced by Judges Craig Davidson, Richard Larson, Caitlin Sweet, and tie-breaking judge Cory Doctorow. The Fund, in collaboration with ChiZine Publications, offers two awards per year, one for fiction, one for poetry, and is granted to two writers of speculative literature. LAKEBED BESSIE, my story about a brazen woman who transforms into a mythological being, received the first place honour in fiction. This story is a tribute to the same-named freshwater creature allegedly sighted in Lake Erie during the past hundred + years, and is an ode to my childhood home on those shores. I am honoured to be acknowledged in the company of such fine writers as Terri Favro and A.C. Koch. ⇐ Briarpatch Magazine Contest: Writing in the Margins Crazy Cat Lady Calendars For $ale ⇒
